Thorncrown Chapel

12968 Hwy 62 West
Eureka Springs, AR 72632

Sited in the calm of a quiet, wooded mountainside between Eureka Springs and Beaver Lake, the Chapel is available for daily visitation, weddings, and retreats. It is open at no charge to the public March through December, but hours vary according to season. Donations are welcome.

In 1979, former school teacher Jim Reed decided to build this chapel in the woods and make it available for anyone who cared to visit. At the time, he did not imagine that this special place would eventually have hosted more than six million visitors!

One of the key features of the Chapel’s design is construction that allows light to filter through the leafy green trees meeting over the chapel’s roof, providing a gorgeous inside ambience. Not seen from the highway (don‘t mistake a visible church steeple for the Chapel itself), you walk a wide, stone path into the woods for a short distance to the Chapel itself. Inside you will find a calm and peacefulness that just complements the admiration you will feel for the Chapel’s architecture.
